Books in a series often suffer from being constrained by the standard format, but the author has managed to cover every aspect of the domestic rabbit and its care in enough detail to make this an excellent all round guide.
The layout of the book, with the chapter number and subject at the edge of each page, makes it quick and easy to search for a particular piece of information. The book covers everything, from history and house rabbits to breeding and showing. I see this becoming the standard modern reference for a wide range of rabbit keepers. And it has one big advantage over its rival, the author’s expertise in rabbit behaviour. There are as many valuable ideas for the breeder and exhibitor, as for the owner of that four-legged demolition expert, the house rabbit. The book is principally aimed at the UK market, with descriptions of UK breeds and shows, but does include references for the American rabbit keeper. I just wish I could be a fly on the wall when the House Rabbit Society (American and rabidly anti-breeder) discovers it is mentioned in a book that describes and encourages breeding and showing!
